Françoise Madeleine Hardy was a French singer-songwriter and actress. Mainly known for singing melancholic sentimental ballads, Hardy rose to prominence in the early 1960s as a leading figure of the yé-yé wave, and went on to become a cultural icon both in France and internationally.
