Tijdens Riemanns derde semester aan de Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover, gaf haar docent Peter Meinhardt, haar haar eerste leidende filmrol in het zesdelige televisiespel Sommer in Lesmona (1987), gebaseerd op brieven van de schrijfster Magdalene Pauli, geproduceerd door de Westdeutscher Rundfunk.
