In 1998 won Kuyvenhoven de eerste prijs op het Prinses Christina Concours.
Twee jaar later werd hij uitgeroepen tot “Jong muzikaal talent” van 2000 tijdens
de finale van het Nationaal Concours 2000 van de Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland. In 2004 werd hij winnaar van het XII Concurso Internacional de Piano Maria Campina in Faro, Portugal. In 2005 won hij de derde prijs tijdens het Internationaal Franz Liszt Pianoconcours, waar hij de eerste Nederlandse winnaar was in 16 jaar. Als deel van de prijs speelde Kuyvenhoven op een aantal concerten, zowel in Nederland als daarbuiten.

Copley begon in 1973 met acteren voor televisie in de televisieserie ITV Saturday Night Theatre, waarna hij in nog meer dan 135 televisieseries en films speelde.
Van 1998 tot 2003 speelde Copley Mathews in de Meridian Television- serie Hornblower . Hij verscheen als Clement MacDonald in Children of Earth , de derde serie van BBC One- show Torchwood , in 2009. Het jaar daarop was hij te zien in afleveringen van BBC One- shows Casualty and Survivors . Van 2011 tot 2015 trad hij op als Mr. Mason , vader van William Mason , in 16 afleveringen van Downton Abbey ; in 2012 speelde hij Alan in de televisieserie White Heat. Op 7 februari 2019 maakte hij zijn eerste optreden als Leonard (de nieuwe liefdesbelang van Jill Archer) in de BBC-radio 4-soap Opera The Archers.
Op 9 januari 2020 verscheen hij als Feste in Father Brown op BBC1.
