Bernard Cornwell

Is een Engelse schrijver van historische fictie. Hij is met name bekend van de boekenreeksen Sharpe en The Saxon Stories. Zijn eerste boeken Sharpe’s Eagle en Sharpe’s Gold’ werden in 1981 gepubliceerd bij HarperCollins. In 1987 werd Cornwell benaderd om meer achtergrondboek te schrijven voor de serie vanwege de mogelijke vertaling voor de televisie. Dit resulteerde in de publicatie van Sharpe’s Rifles en in 1993 als televisieserie met Sean Bean in de hoofdrol.
In 2004 publiceerde Cornwell met The Last Kingdom het eerste deel van The Saxon Chronicles. Deze boeken werden in 2015 door de BBC vertaald naar een televisieserie met Alexander Dreymon in de hoofdrol.

Kelly’s derde album Licorice Kiss werd uitgebracht in 2009. In 2015 bracht Kelly haar vierde album “Spellbound Stories” uit; een reeks liedjes geïnspireerd op haar favoriete romans.

Is een Brits auteur van kinderboeken, vooral bekend om zijn reeks Horrible Histories, grotendeels in het Nederlands vertaald als Waanzinnig om te weten.
Na zijn middelbareschooltijd volgde hij een opleiding tot leraar.
Hij heeft twee jaar lang lesgegeven op een basisschool. Daarna gaf hij nog twee jaar toneellessen. In 1972 begon Deary met acteren. Naast het acteren schreef en regisseerde hij kindervoorstellingen. In 1975 begon Deary met het schrijven van boeken. Aanvankelijk gebruikte hij zijn succesvolste kindervoorstellingen,
maar later begon hij meer informatieve boeken te schrijven.

Hij is het bekendst geworden met the northern light oftewel His Dark Materials, een driedelige serie gepubliceerd onder de Nederlandse titel Het Gouden Kompas, bestaande uit het gouden kompas, Het listige mes en De amberkleurige kijker. Het eerste boek in Pullmans serie werd in 2007 geadapteerd voor film, net zoals de eerste twee boeken van de Sally Lockhart-serie en het kinderboek I was a Rat!. In 2008 noemde The Times Pullman in hun lijst van “De 50 grootste Britse schrijvers sinds 1945”.
