Van 2001 tot 2007 stond ze voor de camera als mevrouw Mell in een constante bijrol in de serie Schloss Einstein . Na een paar kleine rollen in film en televisie speelde Ursula Werner in 2008 de hoofdrol in Andreas Dresens Cloud 9 . In wolk 9 belichaamde ze een vrouw die, eind 60, haar oudere echtgenoot verlaat voor een nog oudere man. Het doel van de film is om te laten zien dat liefde en seks niet zomaar stoppen als je ouder wordt. In 2009 ontving ze voor deze buitengewone prestatie de Duitse filmprijs voor de beste vrouwelijke hoofdrol.
In 2010 ontving ze de Acting Prize bij de Babelsberg Media Awards voor haar vertolking van Marianne in de korte film At the Other End van Philipp Döring en werd ze geëerd als “Beste Actrice” op de GRAND OFF. In 2012 speelde Werner de hoofdrol in Döring’s bekroonde korte film Nagel zum Sarg.
